Commentary

So that'll be all from this contest but the summit clash will take place at this very venue tomorrow at the same time. The hunger to win is clearly evident in this Sri Lankan outfit. They continue their unbeaten streak and will be hoping it extends into one more game tomorrow as they seek to pull one back having lost the final to India Legends last year. West Indies Legends had their moments in the tournament and showed a marked improvement from last year. They will be itching to come back stronger next year and take it even further alright!

Nuwan Kulasekara is the Player of the Match for his spell of 2/26. Here's what he has to say: That was a good match. I always bowled the pressure overs during my time with the national team. (On Dilshan as captain) He's a champion. Him, Sanath...they're always hungry to win. That's the atmosphere in the dressing room. (On the final against India Legends) Every wicket is crucial. I'll try to give my best and we'll see what happens tomorrow.

Tillakaratne Dilshan (Sri Lanka Legends Captain): It was a good game. Both teams played really good cricket. I have to credit the bowlers - it was not easy with the dew. Batting wise I asked Ishan Jayaratne to take up responsibility and he batted really well. Overall both teams played really well. (On the constant request to get the ball changed) It was quite hard since you can't grip the ball when it's really wet. Thankfully it was changed at the last moment. It's not easy playing today and not having even 24 hours to recover. Playing a semifinal and a final back-to-back is not easy. But we have a young bunch and they can recover quickly. I might need some more time (laughs). We lost the final last year - hopefully we can cross the line tomorrow. (On Jayasuriya) Fantastic, no words! He came out and batted for 20 (26) runs and then took those wickets. We needed those wickets. I have confidence in Sanath - he's very experienced.

Brian Lara (West Indies Legends captain): Yeah, before the game started we believed we can beat the strong team but we conceded 20-25 runs extra on the field. Credit to the Sri Lankan team for batting really well despite the wickets falling at one end. Dew is always going to be a factor whenever you play in India. The ball gets wet, the pitch gets dry but we were prepared for everything. We had a wonderful trip to different places in India and it gives us a chance to meet different cricketers all around the world

Sanath Jayasuriya: It was too much pressure for me. Ideally, we could've added a few more runs with the bat. The bowlers bowled well in patches. In pressure situations, the experienced bowlers bowled really well. My thinking is to bowl four overs but getting a wicket is an added bonus for me. Sachin has been a great player and I have played a lot of cricket against him. We got just 24 hours to prepare for the game and we have to recover quickly. Looking forward to the final

A thoroughly professional defense by the Lankans with each of their bowlers stepping up at different stages of the innings. This was after a host of contributions saw them put up 172 on the board, despite suffering a collapse with the bat.

But it was their turn to orchestrate one of their own. It didn't seem possible for a while though with Brian Lara batting in pristine touch. Dwayne Smith looked rusty but despite Lara's departure, Narsingh Deonarine came out looking in fine fettle himself.

Smith started to switch gears and the signs were ominous for Sri Lanka Legends. In what was the perfect rewind of the clock, however, Sanath Jayasuriya landed a double-whammy before Tillakaratne Dilshan followed it up with a wicket of his own. From 65/1, the Windies slipped to 68/4, leaving Deonarine watching from one end as he had to do bulk of the heavy-lifting thereafter.

He did so in seamless fashion, keeping the men from the Caribbean on par with the asking rate for as long as possible. He brought up a sumptuous and effortless half-century although support was hard to come by with Danza Hyatt crawling at the other end.

It started to get tight thereafter but Asela Gunaratne did what he does best to sneak in a couple of very cheeky overs while also picking up a wicket. Deonarine's wicket was the final nail in the coffin though for the Windies and even as Jerome Taylor tried swinging his blade with some useful blows, the equation got out of hand. Despite all the dew on the ground, Isuru Udana nailed his cutters and yorkers with Nuwan Kulasekara doing his bit too to seal the deal for the Lankans, setting up a repeat of last year's final with India Legends.
